Kangoku Danshi (監獄男子 lit. Prison Boys) are a Japanese vocal band consisting of the five main male voice actors of the Prison School anime adaptation, who perform the vocals to the opening and ending theme songs of the first season. The band also represents the anime at public events.
Music career[]
The vocal band Kangoku Danshi are signed to Warner Records Japan. They are part of a growing trend in Japan, in which the vocal cast produces the vocal portion of an animated series' main theme. The band sing their vocal lyrics in baritone with heavy usage of vocal shouts. They have released two singles so far since their debut in 2015, and are heavily involved in the promotion of the animated series.
The vocal band performed a public recital for the voice talent of the first season.[1] The band members were also involved in a special event in Shibuya, Tokyo to promote the home release of the anime's first season. They attended the Niconico Conference 2016, and were also involved in a radio show promoting the anime's original run. The male seiyuu were adapted into the anime promotional series written by Akira Hiramoto.
