The Truly Prodigious Man (やはり天才な男 Yahari Tensai na Otoko) is the sixth chapter special of the The Men Who Created the Prison School Anime featuring Daisuke Namikawa. The chapter was published independently in Weekly Young Magazine on November 9th, 2015.

Summary[]

The popular and successful voice actor Daisuke Namikawa had collaborated with anime director Tsumotsu Mizushima a few years before on Yondemasuyo, Azazel-san - despite his lack of a grasp of the Kansai dialect the role of Akutabe required. Though the issue went unnoticed and chief producer Ikuno Iida approved of his casting, Mizushima still was impressed by his voice performance.

In a certain Tokyo production studio in the present, Toshihiro Miura shows Tsujiko the Prison School vocal audition script for Jo ahead of Namikawa's voice audition. When Tsujiko notices that the majority of the lines involve coughing, Toshihiro angrily defends the mysterious character of Jo as his favourite in the series. Though he explains that even Hiroshi Kamiya objected to the role of Jo because of his inability to express emotions by a simple cough, a newly arrived Ikuno reassures the other production staff that Namikawa is up to the role despite the difficulty of the script.

With the late morning arrival of Mizushima, the initial voice auditioning proves Namikawa to be capable of voicing the character's coughing fits with the register of coughs that Jo makes in the manga. When Mizushima suggests an improvement to the tempo of the cough, the audition continues well and ends early with staff and director approval of his casting. The chapter ends with the recording room of the Prison School radio show where Konishi and Okitsu request some coughing recitation from Namikawa.
